Hauntingly appealing. I keep looking at this one.

  1. Based on the thin black ribbon, the high end wool clothing, the thin hand of the girl, the manicured dainty hand of the man, and the audacity of it all. . .

It's early winter in New York City, and a young fashion executive (the boss's son), is taking a model out for a walk. See, Dad lets him handle hiring, and this particular girl he signed to a non-guaranteed two-week contract. He is testing her ability to walk gracefully and demurely, exactly a half step behind, as he goes out for a latte at the Starbucks three Starbucks down Madison Avenue. She is to be silent, of course, to be seen, not heard.

If she does well, he will move on to other tests. If not, she can finish her two weeks getting coffee for the guys in marketing. After all, this is just the first interview of the day. Three girls waiting.

    1. Marvelous!

This is exactly the sort of participation I hoped for — and your flash is a compelling story starter.

Great job, and thanks so much for the evocative contribution!

(I grew up in NY and worked in Manhattan, but years before the Starbucks invasion. Nevertheless, "three Starbucks down Mad Ave" sounds absolutely on the money.)
